TEACHING PRACTICE

Gambar
In photo: Me and all of the panelists after My Final Demo Teaching 1.1 Procedures of Teaching It was a valuable opportunity for me to conduct teaching practice abroad. I felt excited and slightly nervous. I taught Grade 9 students based on the lesson plan that I prepared. The teaching procedure consisted of three main parts: opening, core activities, and closing. In the opening session, I greeted the students in English and introduced simple greetings as part of cultural sharing from Indonesia. Before starting the lesson, I invited the students to pray together as a form of gratitude. To stimulate students’ curiosity, I used a simple guess-the-picture game related to the lesson topic. The students showed enthusiasm and actively participated. In the core activities, I asked students questions related to their daily needs and wants and wrote their answers on the board. I explained the topic using PowerPoint slides and asked open-ended questions connected to real-life situations. I ...

ABOUT ME

Gambar
My name is Rizky Juanda, an Economics Education student from Indonesia. Looking back, I never truly imagined that I would have the chance to participate in an international teaching program and experience life abroad. Studying and teaching outside my home country once felt like a distant dream—something meant for others, not for someone like me. I come from a background where English is not used in daily academic life. There were many moments of self-doubt, moments when I questioned whether I was capable enough to communicate, to teach, and to adapt in a foreign environment. Yet, despite those doubts, I chose to try. Joining the SEA Teacher Program was not about proving anything to others, but about proving to myself that I could step beyond my comfort zone. Being selected and successfully completing this program in the Philippines became a personal milestone. Teaching students, standing confidently in front of a classroom, and representing my university and my country were exp...

SUMMARY and SUGGESTIONS

  A. Purposes of Practicum The purpose of this practicum is to develop the teaching competence of prospective Indonesian teachers through international teaching experience. One of the main focuses of this program is improving English proficiency, considering that English is still a foreign language in Indonesia. By joining the SEA Teacher Program, participants are given the opportunity to practice teaching and communicating in English in real classroom situations. The Philippines was chosen as the host country because English is used as a second language. This condition provides a supportive environment for participants to improve their English skills, teaching confidence, and cross-cultural understanding. B. Procedures of Practicum The SEA Teacher Program begins with a selection process conducted by each home university. Students who pass the selection are then confirmed regarding their readiness and willingness to follow all program regulations. For third- and fourth-year stu...

1.1 Teaching Methods of the Teacher Observed Based on the observation during the practicum at President Ramon Magsaysay State University (PRMSU), the teachers applied a variety of teaching methods to ensure effective learning. The dominant method observed was the lecture-discussion method, where the teacher explained the lesson while encouraging students to participate through questions and short discussions. In addition, student-centered approaches were also evident. The teacher used group discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and problem-based learning to promote critical thinking and active participation. These methods helped students connect theoretical concepts with real-life situations and improved classroom interaction. 1.2 Learning Materials and Innovation The learning materials used by the teacher included PowerPoint presentations, printed handouts, and reference textbooks aligned with the course syllabus. The teacher structured the materials clearly, starting from ...

TEACHING PLAN

Gambar
1.1 Curriculum The teaching plan follows the curriculum implemented at the Junior High School of President Ramon Magsaysay State University (PRMSU). For Grade 7 and Grade 8, the school applies the MATATAG Curriculum, while for Grade 9 and Grade 10, it continues to use the K to 12 Curriculum. The teaching plan was adjusted according to the grade level to ensure that the lesson objectives and activities matched the curriculum used. Therefore, the teaching plan was designed not only to deliver content but also to develop students’ analytical skills, values, and social awareness. 1.2 Teaching Plan Related to My Major As an Economics Education major, my teaching plan focuses on introducing basic economic concepts in a simple and contextual way. During my final demo teaching, I taught the topic Needs and Wants, because it is closely related to students’ daily lives. I explained the meaning and differences between needs and wants using simple examples. In addition, I introduced the Hier...
